So we have a bit more of the story of the big Marlin caught on the AMF recently, so here it is in Shanan's own words;

Headed out for the first gamefish for the season with Gordon Jowsey, an old family friend that showed me the ropes of the raglan bar when I was a young fulla (and was one of the pioneers of gamefishing in Raglan),  and his neighbour Paul.
When we fisrt started trolling I asked Paul if he a caught a marlin before, when he replied "No never been gamefishing before" I replied "Well I guess you are on the rod all day then"..
4 hrs later we saw a massive fish engulf the lure, started peeling off line and jumped all over the ocean making massive splashes as it landed.
1 hr later we had it at the boat and initially guessed its weight at somewhere around 200 kg.  As we tried to get in on board we became aware that it was a lot bigger than first thought.
We tried for around 30min to get it on the boat and never even got close.
We radio'ed up another boat and 4 of them jumped onboard to give us a lift, so with 7 people we managed to get it aboard.  We wanted to keep the fish in good nick so we headed straight home to get it on ice.
As you can imagine we were pretty stocked when it pulled the scales to 348kg.

                    

 

 

Another Marlin on for the AMF's!  Here we have Jess on board the AMF 770  "Reel Escape" with Craig, and a nice 110.1Kg Striped Marlin, well done Jess and team!!

    

 

Karin and Vance have been out in their AMF 580 Pro Sport off Waihau Bay fishing and sent these photos in for us to share, heres Karin with a nice 24.3Kg Yellow Fin Tuna and Vance holding a wee shark that Karin also caught but she wasnt keen on being near the sharp end of that one!  Well done team 

    

 

So we were doing a photo shoot of the 580 Pro Sport yesterday, I put the photos from my phone into the computer, flicking through them and found I had been totally photo bombed!!  See in the centre of the photo .. ..
